Description:R&D Assistant Researcher COMPANY PROFILE: Our client is a well-established company in the Automotive and Industrial Lubricants industries. A manufacturer of finished lubricants for a variety of applications including the automotive and industrial markets. Current customers include all OEMs for both service and/or factory fill lubricants. As an ISO 9001:2000, ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and Q1 certified company, our clients focus is on the customer and on providing the highest quality lubricants available in the industry. THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY: The laboratory Technicians perform ASTM test procedures and records the results. They report the test results of raw materials and trial products in order to support the decision of candidate formulation for final product. They are responsible in maintaining the accuracy of the lab equipment. They are responsible to train new associates in the lab under the Development manager. They are responsible to keep the laboratory neat, clean, and organized. They should know both the theoretical and practical aspects of the tests they perform. The incumbent has the authority to supervise other technicians as chief. Blending – performs beaker blending for development formulations in accordance with ISO/TS 16949 compliance. Testing – performs testing per established procedures in accordance with ISO/TS 16949 compliance Performs administrative lab functions as assigned Organizes and maintains sample retention Equipment Calibrations – performs equipment calibrations as scheduled Waste management - supports proper waste management in the lab under guidance of lab coordinator Environmental controls – maintains proper environmental controls in the lab under guidance of lab coordinator Quality & Accuracy testing - performs quality & accuracy testing in accordance with ISO/TS 16949 compliance Manual, process and procedures – assists in the maintenance of lab manuals, processes and procedures Assists in the performance IT equipment maintenance including data backups Assists in the inventory and purchase of lab consumables Assists in the inventory and management of lab chemicals Attends weekly update meeting BACKGROUND PROFILE BA/BS in Chemistry or equivalent production laboratory experience Minimum 6 months laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience in the lubricants, automotive or R&D industry helpful but not required Problem solving skills, mathematical skills, and good basic PC skills Team-oriented individual who can perform accurately in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work in and around a chemical environment.
